Good evening and Eid Mubarak from Dubai. Today was day 317 and we have now been in Dubai for 6 games of golf!!! It has gone very quickly and JP and I have some serious homework to do in the morning catching up on the blog roll.
Its a public holiday here called Eid - and so everything is pretty much shut down in Dubai. That is all good as we're catching up with an old mate from St Andrews (our school, not the golf course) lena. Today after golf we headed to the epic water park at Atlantis on the man made palm island off Dubai.
It is pretty warm here but tonight the temperature has dropped to 20 degrees celcius. Some people have even resorted to wearing jerseys.
Our first few days here have gone very very well thanks to our latest 'fairy godparents'. We're staying with Bill and Martha Wong a singaporean couple who moved out here over 20 years ago. They've been great, we had a cracking night with their friends last night and this morning we played with Bill at the local Arabian Ranches golf course. Bill and i even managed a cheeky victory. Yesterday Martha walked a few holes with us at the Emirates Club where she was lady captain last year. Bart has looked through her Captains Book and by the sounds of it - it was some year of ladies golf (and guinness) with Martha at the helm.
The other chap here goes by the name of Chris Turlik. Chief champ boss captain skipper. Helped us immensely, great punter and hopefully on Tuesday Chris and I will have our revenge over the lads. But our entire schedule bar today at Arabian Ranches has been jacked up here by Chris and for all of you who ask how we can play every day with flights - well that is where Chris and his contacts at the Emirates club come to the party... stay tuned.
Tomorrow we are playing with a chap who should beat us by 10. The best golfer we'll play with this year. Stay tuned.
In the meanwhile here are the three musketeers with Lena at the Dubai Marina. Eid Mubarak.
